Morgan Smith

Morgan was a graduate of Columbia College, Columbia University in addition to Columbia University and the Mannes College of Music. In New York City he was picked to be the Seattle Opera "young artist" (1999-2000). The singer was the first professional to debut with Seattle Opera in 2001 in Billy Budd. One of the most popular roles for audiences in Seattle, Mr. Smith has performed roles in 12 other productions since his debut, including The Count Alamaviva in Le nozze di Figaro, Don Giovanni (title role), Silvio in I Pagliacci, Riccardo in I Puritani, and Peter Niles in Mourning Becomes an Electra. An established performer in the concert hall and in the orchestra, Mr. Smith made his Dallas Symphony debut in Bach's St. Matthew Passion, and made his debut with an orchestra from the San Antonio Symphony for the North American premiere of Vier Praludien and Ernste Gesange, Detlef Glanert's orchestral interpretation of the well-loved work by Brahms. In addition, the repertoire of Beethoven's Ninth Symphony; the Requiems composed by Brahms, Faure, Mozart and Durufle; Mass of C Minor of Mozart and Mass in G Minor of Vaughan Williams; Bach's B Minor Mass Numerous Cantatas as well as Weihnachts Oratorium; Handel's Messiah as well as L'Allegro, il Penseroso and Il Moderato as well as Haydn's The Creation and Lord Nelson Mass.
